Hi there! It's blueyedace2, you know the guy that posts all those outdoorsy, Mother Nature loving, artsy fartsy photodiaries? Just wanted to take a moment to share what finally drove me to purchase a life time subscription.
In a word, "wrap" ads. I'm not sure if they're still being used much, but they really bugged the hell out of me. See, I live in the sticks and still connect to teh interwebs via dial up. There's other options available, but ordinarily I'm fine with dial up. Sure It takes me more than a few minutes to upload the photos for my diaries, but I'm a patient person and always have something else to do while I wait.
But what really pushed me over the edge and motivated me to purchase a life time subscription was the damn "wrap" ads. I'm sure you remember them. Obnoxious, intrusive, butt ugly ads that would surround your browser window. I don't recall if they actually caused any problems other than annoying me, but I pissed and moaned so much about them someone gifted me a month subscription. It was great! No ads what so ever. DailyKos loaded super quick and I was a happy camper. Then my month of bliss expired.
Since I was having some credit card problems at the time, I whipped out the checkbook and wrote out a check for $100 and sent it out to the DailyKos headquarters in California. After some time and some email exchanges with some of the folks behind the scenes at DailyKos (great folks), I became a life time subscriber to DailyKos.
Like I've commented elsewhere, best money I've spent this side of a contribution to Russ Feingold.
