First, I'd like to thank all of our wonderful 'Secret Santas' (and those who weren't so secret, and wanted friends to know they were cherished). Every single gift subscription has been a point of light to show that this is a community every bit as alive as any in the 'real world'. I equally want to thank everyone out there who can't afford to gift a sub but have done the equally important act of simply bringing people to our attention who could really use lifetime subs but simply can't afford them. We simply couldn't have connected those who had the money with those who had the need without each and every one of you who helped us find those folks. And finally, I'll thank those who knew of their own need, and who came forward openly to admit that need, without letting pride prevent them from accepting a hand up from a friend. To steal a line, we're all brothers and sisters here in a common family; a sprawling, fractious family, but a family nonetheless.
I've also seen some folks who feel stressed or unwanted - that this drive has suggested they are 'unworthy' or 'unwanted' or to become 'second class citizens' if they don't get given a gift sub or no one happens to think to even put them on the list. There could be nothing further from the truth. This list grows (and, thankfully shrinks with each gift given) in one simple way - someone, somewhere, knows enough about a user to realize they couldn't afford a lifetime sub on their own, and could be able to connect and interact far more easily with one. Now more sadly, even your friends on here, or the people who aren't friends, necessarily, but do value your writing, simply don't have unlimited funds, and may have gifted another friend first. That can be rotten luck for you, but we've also got a number of wealthier Kossacks who are helping somewhat more randomly :) So if you can't afford your own lifetime sub, if you're on an older, crankier computer, and most certainly if you're on a dial-up connection, and you haven't been gifted already and aren't yet on the list, let us know who you are! One of your friends or acquaintances might be shocked and embarrassed to realize they hadn't thought to add you already!
Without further ado... 'The Naughty List'! (What, you thought Kossacks would actually be on the Nice List?)
First, let’s celebrate all who have already received lifetime subscriptions from the generous DKos community, including those who responded to previous 'List' diaries!
These Kossacks have already received lifetime subs (updated Thursday morning):

Special sorta challenge match
For the first 5 names I get to cross off the list today, I will donate $10 to the Okiciyap Food Pantry on the Cheyenne River Reservation. You gifty types make 5 more life time subscribers from the list as it stands now, and $50 goes to the food pantry, so that your gift not only helps a Kossack here, but also helps those in need as the cold winds and bad weather closes in thise season.
And we're off to the races! We got our first 2 of 5 challenge match gifts in quick order :)
(Some with tech issues also apparently show up without the 'Gift this member' link, so if you're on that list and you know you haven't received a lifetime sub email, let us know so we can move you back to the 'tech issues' list.)
Note: Lorinda Pike and GrouchoMarxist are covered as well, but payment is going by check, so they won't show as lifetime subs just yet.
Now, the continuing list of members who could benefit from receiving a lifetime subscription, which costs $100, during this holiday season:

Best of the Holidays to you, and let's continue to spread cheer.
7:26 AM PT: DOH! I forgot to mention Onomastic's 'covert list' of the people in dire straits!
If you're willing to randomly answer one of those folks' need, message Onomastic and she'll send you a name to gift. I'm extending my challenge to her list as well. We've got our first 2 crossed of this list, so that's $20, but if any of our last 3 for the challenge get crossed off HER list, I'll donate $15 instead of $10 to Okiciyap for each of those gifts.
7:54 AM PT: Off for a bit to take my Father to the grocery store, so the list won't be updated for a bit, but as soon as I'm back I'll check for updates :)
9:41 AM PT: My challenge was met! $50 is now going to Okiciyap, thanks to our Secret Santas of the morning :)
10:25 AM PT:
Just thought I'd let folks know how far along Okiciyap is in its goals. You secret Santas actually got it $50.66 this morning, rather than just $50, because I'm a little bit OCD and that odd amount bothered me ;) We're just shy of 80% of the money needed to move the building, which is the first step in getting the pantry up and open...
5:23 PM PT: Since we had so many crossed out and added to the 'gifted' list, I went through and removed all of the crossed out names from the ungifted list to make it easier to use.
