Tis the season of giving, but I must admit I wasn't really feeling the Christmas spirit this year. Until this subscription drive stuff started. Seeing all these people thinking of others and seeing all the heartfelt thank-yous
definitely did it. I suspect even the Grinch himself would be moved! I, for one, am often blown away by the caring and generosity demonstrated by this community. It just makes ya feel so warm and fuzzy all over, regardless of the temperature!
Winter cold notwithstanding, let's keep the DKos Christmas spirit rolling! Onomastic kicked off this subscription drive in an incredibly touching diary. She literally would not be able to post here were it not for the love and generosity of fellow Kossacks. And I think that is amazing.
There are few things more wonderful than knowing one has made a difference in a life and I'm just thrilled to be part of such a caring community. Along these lines, Onomastic has a list of Kossacks who are just a little too shy about being very public with their needs. Asking just doesn't come so easy to some people and that's understandable, but as the Stones said, if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need. Or as the more famous saying goes, "Ask and ye shall receive." So if you are so inclined to help Kossacks who are having a rough go of things, please PM Onomastic and find out what all's on the wish list she's keeping.
Another option for getting your Santa fix is the list of Kossacks who could use/would love an annual subscription. As you know, those will be going away as of December 31st. They will no longer be available after the new year, so even if you just want to buy one for yourself, now is the time. If you think about it, it's quite a good deal: $100 for a lifetime subscription. I believe the annual subscription is $40. Do not be shy about taking advantage of this offer for yourself.
The best thing is, though, that you don't have to feel guilty about taking the lifetime sub option; there is no need to make an either/or choice of lifetime sub versus recurring contributions, because the lifetime sub frees up that $40 annually which you can donate any way you choose as the mood strikes. You can even turn the ads on from time to time and give them a click-through, if you are so inclined. That can be extra fun because not only does it generate revenue for the site, but it costs the advertisers money. So click, click, click away on all the hatah ads!
But if you'd rather click more lovingly, here is the currentish list of Kossacks for to gift sub:

Okay, I'm starting to wonder if Onomastic et al are getting any sleep. Look what they're on about now:
There is a diary going up Saturday for those who would like to make smaller donations. Nurse Kelley is offering the use of her pay pal account. All donations will be pooled. As soon as $100 is reached, a name will come off the list. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
Erich will be posting the diary, I think around 3pm est. He can confirm that. Nurse Kelley, myself and others will be helping. I think we're going to be having a party. :)
The time for that has been officially set to around 7 eastern, so keep your eyes peeled for it! And in case you have any last-minute Christmas shopping on your mind, be sure to take a peek at the Kos Katalogue, a kollektion of DKos arteeests vending their wares. Occupy Christmas!
I hope everyone is having a joyous holiday season; it's certainly felt that way around here. I just wish I could hug everybody!
Update: Currentish list of people who have gift subs is here.
