I'd close my account and never look back. Don't get me wrong...unlike my husband I'm not convinced that Facebook is evil. I like getting little glimpses into friends and family's lives and the discovering of friends from the long dark past is fun. I feed my scrabble addiction outside of Facebook so while I use it, it's not important to me. So why did I buy a Daily Kos subscription. My answer is below the koskie.
Because Daily Kos is more than a website to me. I believe in long term relationships (married 40 years so far) and once I make a commitment I believe in living up to my responsibilities. Even with this lifetime subscription I can see making some other type of financial contribution to this site in the murky future.
Now I wish I was in a position to buy a few gift subscriptions, but I'm not. There are probably many people like me on this site, regular users with a fast enough connection and the ability to ignore ads. I will probably open up the site without logging in to keep the traffic numbers up for the ad revenue. I'm here a lot.
The reason I'm subscribing now is because although it's a splurge the money is there and this is an opportunity to honor what I've found within this community.
