Some of you may share my Seasonal Mood/Affective Disorder. If not, I just want you to know that some of us become very grouchy when the nights grow long. If we snap at you, it's likely a lack of light or something winter related. We don't intend to be mean or short-fused, we just get surly when the lights go out.
So I hope you can overlook a few negative outbursts over the dark days.
Springtime will see us cheerful & happy again.
I look forward to Mardi Gras, & I get ashes & give up something for Lent, b/c it marks the countdown to Easter, which is Spring! & I can love life again, b/c there is Light! and a bursting forth of growth, & did I say Light?
It may be strange for a night worker to be so affected by light, but when you go to work in the dark & it's barely light when you head home, it's too dang dark, brothermother.
Happy Holidays!
Maybe there's a reason we put festive lights on our houses in these dark days. They arouse joyfulness in our brains.
Maybe we do all this light & Santa Claus stuff to light up the darkness & help us crawl out from under the blankets right about now. In my case, it helps. Lights on a house or a Xmas tree improves my mood.
And who doesn't love Rudolph?
or Santa?
