Hello, everyone! Not much to say, except that I took the plunge and purchased a lifetime subscription. A gift to myself, you might say.
Daily Kos has been my go-to poliblog since I joined during the fierce (and ultimately frustrating) Bush v Kerry presidential campaign. I don't remember how I actually ran across Daily Kos, but when I signed up my UID was/is 17068, and I thought, "wow, I'm late to this party!" In retrospect, I guess I was one of the early arrivers. :-)
I have a collection of websites I bring up via a Firefox bookmark group, and DK is always first in the list, and is my most-frequent jumping-off point to other locations.
Why get the subscription? I dunno. Paying back a little of what I've gotten from this tremendous online community? Quite so, but also because I hate ads. Especially the entire-screen-wash kind the site uses occasionally. I was previously using an ad-blocker, but then felt guilty seeing the "you're stealing from our livelihood" messages and re-enabled it for the site, but they still really bugged me. I hadn't heard of a lifetime subscription being offered before, and since I've been around since '04 and a yearly subscription is $40, doing the math was easy to justify it.
This is only my second diary in all that time, and I'm not sure if there will be others - by the time I think of something to say it usually has already been said numerous times - but I'll just take this opportunity to say THANKS to everyone that has helped this community evolve and flourish in the way it has.
