Well, as of November 2, 2011, NATIONAL PRESTO INDS INC (NPK:New York)  You know, the company that makes electric griddles, air poppers, and adult diapers.  Of course they are expanding into NON-LETHAL bullets and flashbombs.  DUH!

Remember those Flash Bang bombs lodged at Occupy Oakland protestors?

It is very possible these "Less Than Lethal" weapons were manufactured by ALS.   Again, NLS is now owned by Nat'l Presto, my favorite pressure cooker manufacturer, btw.  Does irony know any limits?

You can view the Less Lethal product line here.

In the presentation below the orange croissant, I will demonstrate how some of these products are not only extremely potentially lethal, but how the company actually provides a video presentation in TOTAL CONFLICT with its written usage policy.  Gee, what could possibly go wrong?  You will not believe your own eyes, I promise.

If you want to get right to the story, jump below the Orange Croissant.

Of course, TO NO ONE'S SURPRISE, all WEAPONS scary begin with the military.

DOD:  It's our governments favorite Public/Private Partnership vehicle.  We get to finance the development of weapons used against us.  Isn't that special?

non lethals

Presto's flight to defense products is paying Presto handsomely.  The following chart of Presto's three business segments is BEFORE Presto added ALS Technologies to its acquistions.  Again, Presto bought ALS in November, 2011

Presto cash flow

And who is making all those plastic hand cuffs?  Find out here.

So, let's cut to the chase.

ASL makes and/or distributes all things scary; however, this blew my mind!

This whole video is alarming but go to minute 4:49 to watch a demonstration of The T-470 Magnum Stun Grenade.

The situation is an armed Terrorists Hostage event.  Pay particular notice to what happens to the hostage at minute 5:23.  We'll chat again after you watch:

Did you see the hostage collapse out of his chair and fall to the floor?

The T-470 Magnum Stun Granade emits 185 decibles of sound and a 10 psi pressure wave, enough to destroy the eardrums and/or kill someone.

Here's what ALS has to say in its on-line recommended usage, which is EXACTLY CONTRARY OR OPPOSITE to the video demonstration.

The T-470 Magnum Stun Grenade should only be used outdoors or in large rooms such as auditoriums or gymnasiums.

Devices thrown within 5 feet of individuals may produce significant trauma to individual’s hearing and damage to the eyes. Cardiac complications may be induced in individuals with pre-existing conditions. These devices should not be used in areas with high fire potential.

Bin Laden and his crew of terrorists continue to threaten your's and my safety.  Not directly, of course, as Bin Laden is dead.  However, he handed the word TERRORIST AND TERRORISM on a golden platter to the Bush Administration.  As a result, we are all now spied on at stop lights and companies like ALS are profitting from products that can easily be used against us EVEN BY criminals.

Are we to believe that the 2011 $7.5 million in product sales by ALS will NEVER get into the wrong hands?  Really?

That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons of history. ~Aldous Huxley

This is what really boggles my mind:

ALS uses a video to demonstrate the use of the T-470 Magnum Stun Grenade IN a room where hostages are present.  The video clearly shows the hostage being harmed!

BUT ALS warns, in writing on its website, that this device should not be used indoors or in rooms smaller than an auditorium or gymnasium.

I don't usually use this acronym, but WTF?!

How many decibels can damage your hearing?

From what I have gathered,

At 185 db the ear drum suffers serious damage, is very painful, and blood may leak out of your ears;

When your eardrum shatters, you will become disoriented (loss of balance), blood will come out of your ears, and it will be very painful.

And could cause a heart attack for someone with a heart condition.

So in order to "Save the Hostages" with T-470 Magnum Stun Grenade, the hostages will be deafened, perhaps for life.  In short, they will live but not to hear about it.

Are there any adults making sure these weapons will never, ever harm innocent people?  Is the Department of Justice paying attention?

AND IT IS PROBABLY NO SURPRISE THAT BUSH, CHENEY, RUMSFELD ET AL started looking into new CHEMICAL WEAPONS while on the hunt for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

The Sunshine Project ended in 2008; however, an incredible wealth of information acquired through FOIA requests has been archived.

Here's the HOME PAGE

You will find yellow sun-like tabs at the top of the webpage.  Click on Non-Lethal to see what has been developed.

Are we really that naive to ever think that weapons designed for over seas will never be used here?  UM, NO

Now some of you might be wondering and asking:  How I got around to this information.  The rest of this INTRO will provide the journey details.

Back in 2008, a couple I know was invited to be part of OSCE -Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.  I learned that this included planning, in essence, international policing standards.

The OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and  human aspects. It therefore addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities.

Since then, I have watched a transition.  Today, RIOT POLICE worldwide look alike.  I wondered how that could be, so I started searching for international organizations.

That is how I found The International Association of Chiefs of Police

The International Association of Chiefs of Police is the world's oldest and largest nonprofit membership organization of police executives, with over 20,000 members in over 100 different countries. IACP's leadership consists of the operating chief executives of international, federal, state and local agencies of all sizes.

IACP holds expositions where the latest and greatest in POLICE GEAR and LESS THAN LETHAL WEAPONS are displayed, demonstrated, and SOLD TO POLICE CHIEFS around the world.

For a complete list of the Manufacturers of All Things Police, you can click here.

After watching what was, for me, jaw dropping images in the video above, I wondered where could the Oakland Police Department have gotten their hands on those flash bombs or where Berkely Campus Police found the industrial-sized Pepper Spray.

I patiently began going through the list of IACP Exhibiters and lucked out.  The BIG MANUFACTURER was a company that began with the letter "A".

Specifically, ALS Technologies, Inc. located on 1103 Central Boulevard, Bull Shoals, AR

So, I popped onto Google Earth expecting to find a factory or an office complex if these items are manufactured overseas.

This is what I found on Google Earth.  Nothing!  1103 Central Boulevard, Bull Shoals, AR is in the boonies.  ALS is just an awesome website unless its facilities are underground.

I thought to myself, who really owns ALS Technologies.  The website says:

ALS Technologies is proud of its status as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. Call us now at 1-877-902-4257 toll free to find out how we can simplify your acquisition process.

After some digging, I found that ALS was purchased by Nat'l Presto.

Eau Claire, Wisconsin (November 2, 2011) — National Presto Industries, Inc. (NYSE: NPK) announced today that its Defense segment has purchased the assets of ALS Technologies, Inc., a small Arkansas, manufacturer of less than lethal ammunition. Products include smoke and tear gas grenades, specialty impact munitions, diversionary devices and stun munitions, support accessories like launchers and gas masks, as well as training for the use of its products. Current year sales are estimated to be $7.5 million. The products are sold primarily to law enforcement and corrections facilities.

We are witnessing the culmination of an 80 Year Plan.  I beg you to read, become familiar w/the history/facts, and then facebook, twitter, email, whatever to get this information out to people ASAP.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
