There is a phrase I have long wanted to use because it has a grand and careless sound as if I were someone of vast importance to whom a lackey has brought a piece of information. Here goes:
It has come to my attention (see what I mean?) that some kind and generous Daily Kos person has made me a subscriber. Since this person chooses to be anonymous, I can't know whom to thank but I'll give it a try.
Dear Kossack friend, this is a new experience for me. In my ninety eight years such a thing has never happened to me before. You are a mystery. Are you male or female? Tall or short? The only thing I have to go on is that we're politically on the same side. It's a safe bet that you share enthusiastically in my low opinion of the despicable Bush-Cheney crew, that you're gleefully observing the antics of the current crop of GOP contenders for the presidential nomination in the coming year, and are as hopeful as I am that Obama is re-elected.
The only other thing I have to go on is that you prefer to be anonymous. Being "public like a frog" is not for you. Perhaps you're indulging in a quiet chortle over the old girl's efforts to imagine you. Now I start guessing. Are you perhaps someone who has made comments on my diaries and thereby warmed my elderly heart with some kind words? This seems likely. Whoever you are, I am truly grateful to you and am much enjoying the real dignity of being a Subscriber.
