Welcome to the sidewalk sale. Today, the mom in the middle is showing her sketches. We are also asking for some help for her.
Economic downturn has hit the mom in the middle's family this month -- her husband's working days were cut. And if she doesn't bring in about $300 in the next few days, she won't be able to afford her training to become a paralegal. She sees that training as the way to secure her family's income -- it is very, very important to her.
We're asking for donations through PayPal -- send them to themominthemiddlekos AT gmail DOT com. Anyone giving $25 or more will receive one of the sketches below. Please help if you can. And even if you can't, please enjoy the show! The mom in the middle will explain more below the orange squiggle.
A little music while you read?
So I want to start off saying that I do not consider myself an artist, but a designer. In design school we are taught to block draw to impart what we want to communicate. The blocking also helps us set up what we want to scene paint. I tend to sketch what catches my eye. There are some days cute fluffy birds catch my eye. Boy lately they have lol. Right now I have a series of 16 post card sized blocks and can do more including requests. I will HAVE TO HAVE an address to send you your sketch.
I more than understand this season has drained everyone. It took me years after graduating from undergrad to decide what to do with my life. Too many years of planning to teach on the Jr. college level and not achieving it. I researched and researched and decided that there are too many lawyers in my immediate family but working in the legal profession is what I wanted to do. It involved a major piece of what I loved about designing, research and discovery, all the while being able to be a part of the greater good. I found the law firm I will work at, they just don't know that yet. They represented the Obama's and they have stood for many of the same beliefs I have. We have been paying out of pocket due to my BFA not allowing me to qualify for a scholarship, grant, or loan. WIA also says that since it is over 2 years they will not back me. My husband's work decided to be kind and schedule extra holiday days off, most of the days off were planned and covered for in the budget, the new one have killed it. So here I am, with my small road sign : PARALEGAL or BUST, Will sketch for tuition down payment.
You will notice that birds are featured prominently here
