A previous diary is asking that those in Iowa to vote uncommitted in the caucus to show President Obama that we Democrats are unhappy.
I ask the question "Then what?"
I want to know what happens after Obama gets x percentage of the "uncommitted" vote.
I think the following will happen:
1. Pundits (like the one in a previous diary) get media gold. I mean think about it. The political media likes nothing more than to whip a frenzy over nothing. I can see them now. "Obama rejected by own party" "Obama loses race he isn't even in!"
2. Independents get iffy about voting for Obama.
This election isn't about hard core Democrats or hard core Republicans. This election is going to be decided by the all-mighty "undecideds" (I personally think that "undecideds" are attention seekers that like to be interviewed by the media. If you ever listen to one of those panels, it's very easy to see how someone is going to vote).
Again win for pundits because they get to set up panels and stuff and interview the disgruntled Democrat and the "undecided"/uncommitted" voter. Yeah face time on TV.
So far +2 for pundit...nothing for me.
3. I get to feel some righteous indignation. That showed Obama. Now he is going to listen to me. He is going to stand up to those Republicans and arm twist them into free abortions for all. So plus one for me...
4. Let's say Obama loses the election and Mitty/Gingrich win. Did I win? Only if I'm in the 1%.
Pundits win. We need to have an opposition voice to the president so no worries about the show being canceled. Bingo, show me the money!!
The problem I have with diaries that tell me to do stupid things like vote against my interest is that they never have the next step.
I vote uncommitted and then what? Who is this candidate that is going to get elected that will deliver all these things I want.
I want an action plan.
First: Start at local level and vote in progressive candidates.
Second: Once they have experience have them run for state level.
Third: Generate national interest in said candidates.
Four: Elect at national level.
In conjunction: Vote out any candidate at these lower levels that doesn't follow a progressive agenda.
In conjunction: Continue the conversation that OWS started about income inequality and abuses to our democratic system.
Or I can ignore my action plan and whip of a flamewar on DKos. Either one.
