Sonoran Alliance is a prominent, perhaps the most prominent, conservative blog in Arizona. As you can imagine, the sturm and drang over there about the Pearce recall has been extremely sturmy and drangful.  Over a month later, there still coming to terms with what happened.

One of the most prolific writers about it is a writer who goes by "wanumba", and over the past couple months has been steadily progressing through Kubler-Ross' stages of grief, and it seems that he was finally at the "acceptance" stage, finally accepting that Pearce lost because his base didn't show up (although one could argue Pearce's base did show up - the base was just extremely small).

He's gone on record saying only Democrats use the recall process - forgetting, of course that in Arizona recall attempts have been attempted by conservatives against Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, and Senator John McCain. He's also made repeated comparisons to the recall as a coup d'etat - apparently a months long process of gathering signatures, filing with the SoS, campaigning, debates, etc. is equal to this:

Marge Simpson: "Who's Muntu?"
Kitenge: "He is our leader. He seized power in a bloodless coup. All smotherings!"

Today, however, he's relapsed right back into anger:

"As for the argument that the recall was “legal,” let’s just consider that the 9/11 highjackings were also ALL perfectly legal through the normal functioning systems, tickets were bought, IDs were presented, stood in line all neat and tidy, sat in the assigned seats … except that the intent and design of the system was to deliver passengers safely to other airports, not seized and redirected into buildings to kill as many people as possible."

That's some next level crazy. Although, I suppose in a world where forgetting to get the right amount of signatures for the Virgina primary is equal to Pearl Harbor, this is the next logical progression.

11:25 AM PT: UPDATE: And in a surprise to no one, he's doubling down. Basically, his argument boils down to: PUNY MAN-ANIMALS DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE ANALOGIC POWER OF THE PSYCLOS*:

"I think it was a very bad idea for the SAT to have removed the analogy section, because I haven’t yet seen a coherent grasp of correct use of analogies or recognizing the essence of what makes an analogy."

* - You can never go wrong with a "Battlefield Earth" reference.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
