I find it unnnerving that not one news organization has bothered to give any objective report of Chavez, save that he and Castro are good friends. In addition to calling for his assassination, Robertson misrepresented Chavez and Venezuela, and I have yet to see anybody correct the record.
I realize that its less "newsworthy" than the assassination call, but Robertson also said that Chavez is a communist dictator and Venezuela has become a breeding ground for Muslim terrorists, both of which are nonsense. Chavez was democratically elected, and recently won a landslide victory in a no confidence vote, depite (or maybe because of) the opposition being funded by the US. The disdain for Chavez in America is founded on a single principal - he runs a poor country with oil and he refuses to play "fair" with the IMF while people suffer.
After all, some of our closest allies in the Global War on Terror are oil-rich dictatorships that are Muslim breeding grounds, but evidently cheap oil evidently trumps the argument every time.
