2008 was an important year. We elected a Democratic President to the WH, elected more Democrats to the House and Senate.
But then two years later, things went downhill.
And now we come to a very pivotal point in recent history for the USA.
2012 is not just a Obama vs Any GOP nominee election. It is much more than that, on the national level, the state level, the district level and the local level.
No matter who the Republican nominee is for President.
No matter who the Republicans running for all the Senate seats are.
No matter who the Republicans running for the house are.
They will all beleive in one thing:
Not only the government can not help people properly, the government SHOULD NOT (and this is important) help people.
That we do not need to give more money to the middle class, that doesn't help. We should give more money to the rich, that will help well the rich.
That the problem with Wall Street is too much regulation. That the financial crises was caused by too much regulation. It would be better if we cut back regulations to well even less than pre-2007 levels.
That the problem with the tax bracket is that 50% of America can not afford to pay federal income tax. It is these Americans who aren't paying their fair share.
That we can create millions of jobs just by drilling anywhere and everywhere.
That corporations will fix everything.
That Healthcare is not a universal right that people in America should enjoy.
That things were better when you got denied insurance because of a pre-existing condition, because you reached your lifetime limit. Or because you couldn't afford one after graduating from college at 22 and not finding a job. Or that you just got too expensive for the insurance company...
That things were better when women and men were not required to be given equal pay for the same work.
That well Paul Ryan's plan is gospel for Medicare reform.
That withdrawing all troops from Iraq was handing a victory to Al Qaeda.
I could go on and on.
So, you may be dissapointed with what Obama has done or has not done. That he didn't veto a bill, or he agreed to a bill or to a law. That the stimulus wasn't larger, that Wall Street reform wasn't tougher, that HCR wasn't more liberal. Anything.
Realize this, that if you don't vote in 2012 or vote for the other candidate. You aren't voting against just Obama.
You are saying that you agree that the government should not help people.
