The poem "Our Deepest Fear" alludes to the proposition that in reality, we may be powerful beyond measure. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us..."
As I write this there are thousands and thousands of people around the country (and the world) who are part of a movement based on a collective consciousness awakening about the true evil nature of a system animated by unquenchable greed, corruption, exploitation, and lies.
Millions of citizens have come to realize that a very small group of people who exhibit psychopathic tendencies have been able to take control of the levers of power by buying off politicians (and hence, the entire system of government), and by flooding the airwaves with a mind-numbing amount of propaganda.
This fact is very disturbing to these sociopaths, since as the saying goes, "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." People have become wise to this reality; we have lifted the veil of deception. This process is still in its nascent stage, but it is spreading quickly.
This explains the overreaction by the police state in handling the Occupy Movement. It explains the police brutality; it explains the increased incidences of torture by police against OWS arrestees.
The reason it is so disturbing to the corrupt oligarchy is because even though this type of tyrannical ruling class lacks the ability to feel compassion, shame, remorse, or a sense of duty towards the society in which they live in, viewing it instead as a resource to be exploited and plundered, they are nevertheless aware of the fact that only through deception and manipulation can they control the entire population and make us act against our own interests.
Because once you sift through the thick mist of propaganda, and lift the curtain, what you see before you is a sniveling coward of a human being, filled with greed, and the most debased human instincts, who have nevertheless been able to acquire power by bribing the same government officials who are supposed to be serving the country.
And again, although this debased specimen of human being lacks the ability to feel remorse or duty towards country, it does understand fear; the fear of being exposed for what they really are.
Because once a large enough segment of the population wakes up to this reality, the control these sniveling sociopaths exert over us will be removed. And there is nothing these criminals fear more than losing their ability to manipulate, control, and exploit the population for personal gain, personal enrichment, greed, avarice.
It's hard to predict what will be the people's reaction once this gospel of truth (as it were) spreads. But spread it must. Now is the time to reach out to our friends, family, neighbors, and people everywhere and speak the truth; share with them the good news about the awakening; about a new intellectual and spiritual renascence.
If it was up to me, one thing I would suggest would be to organize an ongoing series of meetings across the country at locally-owned coffee houses, and venues, and homes, and focus on three topics: the harmful effects of tv-watching (propaganda); the mechanics and details about how moneyed interests corrupt our political system; strategies for divesting from all the major multinational corporation by starving them off revenue; local sustainability strategies.
Imagine teachers, and community organizers, activists, economists, philosophers, holding teach-ins at thousands of locations across the country! Reaching out to people and encouraging them to stop by one of these meetings and connect with other people in the community, instead of just watching TV.
I would encourage all these groups to connect through a grassroots national organization or movement (Occupy) and plan a "Spring Offensive" with a massive nation-wide general strike on the first day of Spring (March 20th, 2012)... I would encourage reaching out to labor unions to come up with strategies to unionize Target and Walmart employees, with a goal of bringing union membership up to 100% of workers (hey, why aim low?).
But that's just me; I'm just one person. Again, I have no idea what will happen (in detail), but I know, deep down, that the first condition that needs to be met in order for we the people to be able to bring about a better world is to realize the utter debauchery, greed, criminality, corruption, and cowardice with which the entire plutocratic ruling class in imbued with. The revulsion at such state of affairs, once people are awakened to it, will be of such magnitude, that it will result in the end of this type of parasitic regime.
I will continue doing what I can to share this "gospel of truth" with people, and sharing ideas, knowing that at the end, people will do the right thing. Because the right thing is really not that complicated to understand. Clean government; proper regulatory oversight; strong progressive tax system; end of the war-profiteering military industrial complex; an economy based on sustainability (and harmony with the environment).
So let 2012 be the year of awakening, of action, of the continuation of the process of bringing down the reign of a tiny group of oligarchy sociopaths. Because we are indeed powerful beyond measure. All we have to do is free our minds from the very harmful effects of propaganda (the entire corporate U.S. media). The rest will manifest itself.
Let this be our "New Year's Revolution."
