Bill Kristol is going to be in traction from this stretch into Obama Derangement Syndrome.
It seems that Mr. Kristol is "offended" that later tonight President Obama will be "butting in" on the Iowa Republican Caucus ... by participating in a video teleconference with supporters attending the Iowa Democratic Caucus.
Yes, how dare the leader of the Democratic Party talk to his supporters when 0.000038461538 percent or so of the U.S. population decide which Republican candidate they'll settle for. Instead he could be dealing with Iran—tonight—and the economy—tonight!
But the best part of Kristol's faux outrage?
We have a year before the election and he's wasting time tonight doing what? Giving some silly talk to Iowa Democrats? It's not going to affect what happens in November. It shows how political this White House is ...
Really? Doing something that will have no effect on what happens in November shows how political this White House is? Make a choice, Bill.
Complete transcript below the fold.
KRISTOL: But you're right, Republicans will rally to whoever the nominee is, and President Obama, you reported just now, that he a, he's butting in tonight, what, he's doing some internet feed from Washington to talk to the Democrats?
KELLY: Yes. It's the Democratic Iowa Caucus goes, even though there's really not a caucus going on on the Democratic side.
No, it's cheesy. I'm really a little offended by this. I mean, I worked in the White House and obviously there's politics and partisanship in the White House, but he's the President of the United States. He has nothing, there's nothing going on on the Democratic side in Iowa tonight. Can't he just like deal with Iran, and deal with the economy and deal with some of the problems …
KELLY: Is he trying to get himself in the news like he just was?
KRISTOL: But it's such a pathetic way to do it, honestly. And I think it hurts him, honestly, I do think he's now being hurt by not being presidential. You know, a lot of people voted for President Obama in 2008, they still wish him well, they still want him to succeed. We have a year before the election and he's wasting time tonight doing what? Giving some silly talk to Iowa Democrats? It's not going to affect what happens in November. It shows how political this White House is and i think that does offend people.
