I don't sign up for Republican literature "just to see what's there." I haven't gotten anything until recently, and I don't know how I got on their list. I sent back some with notes to take me off the mailing list, after scribbling answers to their questions that no doubt didn't match what they expected. I was floored, however, to get a phone call from the "Tea Party Patriots" today. I mean huh? I was rather flabbergasted and after saying, "hah hah hah," I asked the soft-spoken woman who called me, "How did you ever get my name?" She said, "It showed up on my screen."
I explained it was rather odd that I would appear on her screen, but asked what she was calling about. She explained that there was a real deficit problem in Washington. I interrupted and said it was thanks to George Bush, his two wars, and his tax breaks for the wealthy. I then sputtered some more about Republicans giving tax breaks to oil companies and corporations not paying their fair taxes, and the disparity in this country between rich and poor.
I heard her make agreeing kinds of sounds and then say "but Obama" and I said, "Don't you blame this stuff on Obama. It belongs to George Bush." I never did find out what she called about, a failing on my part, but as we hung up, I told her I hoped she was getting paid for it.
Has anyone else gotten one of these calls recently?
