No, I'm not making this up.
Appearing on John King USA on Wednesday evening, Rick Santorum denied he said he didn’t want to make “black people’s lives better” during a pre-caucus campaign event Sunday in Sioux City, Iowa. ...“What I think — I started to say a word and then sort of changed and it sort of — blah — mumbled it and sort of changed my thought.”
Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher noted it took Santorum three days to clarify that he really said “blah” not “black”. He emailed Santorum’s campaign on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before he volunteered this unusual explanation.

Smithers: No...No! They're saying,"Boo-urns! Boo-urns!!"
Mr. Burns: Are you saying "Boo!" or "Boo-urns!"
Angry Mob: "BOOOOOOOO!!!"
Hans Moleman: "I was saying "Boo-urns"...
Miracle Max: True Love is the greatest thing in the world...but that's not what he said! He distinctly said "to blaaaaave", and as we all know, "to blave" means "to bluff!", eh? So you're probably playing cards, and he cheated!
Update: h/t to yg17 for the most obvious one:
"What did he say?
"He said "The sheriff is near!"
Update x2: OK, I'm not at all familiar with Greg the Bunny, but due to popular request in the comments, I'm adding a scene featuring "Count Blah":
