In previous diaries, we winnowed a list of 60 vile Republicans down to 12; in yesterday's, I wanted to get down to 8, but we got 7 instead. So, the number one vote getter (Cantor) gets a bye. Then I divided the remaining 6 into three sets. This is the first set. I will put others up as I am able to; I'm doing more research for these and it takes time.
Louie Gohmert (TX-01) Believes in "terror babies", that is, the idea that terrorists will have babies in the USA, who will be citizens. Then those kids will be trained as terrorists in some other country and return to the US to wreck havoc. He offers no evidence for this except a scheme where pregnant Chinese women could pay to come to the US.
Gohmert has also said that money sent to Asia to protect species could be used for "Moo goo dog pan". He wants to repeal the 17th amendment (allowing citizens to vote directly for Senators).
According to VoteView, he is the 11th most conservative person in the House.
Darrell Issa (CA-49) (as an aside - he's the richest congressperson) Multiple legal problems over decades (car theft, carrying illegal weapons, suspected of arson). Opposed aid to first responders to 9/11. Voted to help various companies where he had financial interests (e.g. Goldman Sachs),
There's one issue where Issa is good: He's an opponent of SOPA. But this is an aberration. For example, he is for the Research Works Act, which would forbid federal agencies from putting research into public databases. This would be a direct attack on PubMed Central and other research databases.
