....for most all that is wrong, with the Republican Party today.
And the Republican Party is becoming the poster child for what is wrong with America today (most of this I learn here at www.dailykos.com)
This diary will be, I hope, short, and, I hope, sweet. But it will more likely be bittersweet.
About Mitt Romney:
1) We learn that if you attend one of his campaign events you may be arrested for no reason at all
2) We learn that Romney is a vulture capitalist. Far from being a "job creator", a wealthy person of the job creator class, Romney’s business, the government subsidized Bain Capital (or is it to be more appropriately spelled Bane Capital?), when he is not running for poster child, is to destroy jobs, and lives, for fun and profit.
3) Mitt’s sons decided it more patriotic to serve on his presidential election campaigns than to serve in the US military defending our much in danger abroad if not in question at home supposedly constitutionally protected freedoms! Egotism, and delusions, that.
4) Mitt doesn’t have a large house in California. I mean Mitt Romney doesn’t have a large enough house in California, so he is rebuilding it and vastly increasing the size. For some reference, perspective, in case you don’t remember, John McCain doesn’t know how many houses he owns (he has to get back to us), but for most of us, regarding the state of our housing, and the housing sector in his country, we know. But, did you know… something doesn't quite feel right … that even if you are just trying to get by, you and the rest of the housing industry may be competing against taxpayer (that means you!) funded prison/slave labor?
Some 90,000 voters in New Hampshire and lots of the big money from wherever it comes, appear OK with all of this! Or they watch Fox News and they don’t know better. Is it just that a plurality of fools default to a support of Romney?
About the Republican Party:
1) Not one of their leading candidates is willing to broach, to discuss, to even acknowledge their most recent legatees, George W Bush. As if he didn’t exist! As if he wasn’t a Republican! As if nothing went wrong during those, for the rest of us, most memorable eight years!
Yes, George Bush is this Republican Party’s legacy. All the GOP candidates wore, and wear, GWB hats. They can't pretend they didn't know better. And rhetoric aside, the GOP policies are unchanged. Eight years of the Bush tax cuts sent the county into a state of near Depression, certainly the longest recession since The Big One. The GOP adherents forced Barack Obama to extend this budget busting, deficit exploding tax cut an additional two years, extending and broadening the economic crisis. What does it get us? Massive deficits and extended, deep unemployment, for starters.
2) So adventurous and so ambitious are some of the Republican candidates (Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry), they are now willing to attack Mitt Romney (!) from the left (!) to gain attention for their own pathetic campaigns. (See also #2 above). As for the other holders of excessive baggage, and verbal and moral contortionists… Ron Paul? Jon Huntsman? Michele Bachmann? Herman Cain? What’s the difference? Out here in the real world we can’t see any.
It is clear by now to many the goals for the Republican Party and their candidates are not a sound, or safe, or secure, nation, or a strong economy, or a robust Constitution, or any form of internal party or logical consistency, but rather their own personal liberties and power plays as they try to break into the White House, so to speak, and to return to the scene of the crime (the fleecing of America?), at any cost. Even at the cost of their own personal embarrassment, and even if it leaves a permanent bloody stain on, or ultimately leads to the demise of, the once great party of Lincoln
