Mittens got his double - digit win last night; Governor Jon came in third. Governor Jon has the coin to keep his campaign running for as long as he wants, but coming in 3rd in a state he's basically lived in over the last months should give him something to think about - just sayin'...
It's time for "this day in history." On this date in 1757, Alexander Hamilton was born in the West Indies. And, his long - form birth certificate is where?! And, don't even try to vote in this country without picture ID, your Social Security card, your blood type, your mother's maiden name... On this date in 2002, the first planeload of al - Qaida prisoners from Afghanistan arrived at a U.S. military detention camp in Guantanamo, Cuba. We were gonna close that, weren't we? *&^%$#@!
Ezra Cornell was born on this date in 1807; he founded a university some ex - MSNBC employee graduated from. ;D
On with The Rachel Maddow Show!
"Live Free or...Fade Quietly Into Obscurity" - The GOBP has a history of giving nominee turns to the guy who finished 2nd in the last go - around. The 2008 campaign was pretty similar to what's going on now. Folk weren't wild about Senator McCentury. Remember when Fred Thompson was going to save the GOBP? Didn't his campaign last a couple weeks? :D He was actually in debates? Well, I probably didn't watch those MENSA gatherings, then, either! :) The "social conservative" won in IA in 2008, too. Now, replace Senator McCentury with Mittens, and you've got 2012! Rachel's counting out Governor Secession - silly Rachel. ;D Tea baggers were supposed to shake up the GOBP establishment; well, tea baggers were subsidized by big corporations. Tea baggers in SC really don't like Mittens; then again, not a whole lot of people like Mittens. Newt's even appealing to tea baggers now to stop Mittens & asked them for money, too. Well duh! Dave Weigel gets deja vu all over again duty. SC has a history of "affirming the establishment's candidate." Yea, but previous "establishment candidate"s weren't Mormon, and them SC folk value their "Christianity." As I've said, I just can't see Mittens winning there. One thing Senator McCentury had over Mittens is the well - known Vietnam experience. I also think there was a fair amount of guilt over what happened to Senator McCentury in SC back in 2000.
"Palookaville" - NH voters had a hell of a ballot to contend with yesterday; a "Hoosier" was even on there! There's a Dick Perry on the "Show Me Your Papers" state GOBP ballot & a big 'ol list. The only MENSA members on the VA ballot are Mittens & Rep. Paul. Man on Dog's not frothy enough yet for OH. ;) Governor Secession doesn't meet CNN rules for debate participation? Hell! He's probably relieved! ;) CNN's letting him in anyway; it should at least be entertaining. Rachel wants the guy who lost to a KKK Grand Dragon to be in; she wants Governor Huntsman to be in, too - even though he's losing to Stephen Colbert in SC. Remember all those MENSA members who could've run but decided not to? We had Governor Haley Barbour who pardoned a lot of folk his last day - including some murderers. A judge blocked some of the releases. Gov. Barbour's ready to jump in the lobbyist game. There's Not - My - Man Mitch! He got roundly booed during his "state of the state" address! :D And, we get a "Hoosier Right to Work" review.
"Making a Killing" - Newt's SuperPAC released their big 'ol anti - Mittens video today. There's quite the split among the MENSA members on whether to attack him for his Bain activities. President Obama was actually working on job growth for this country. Have any of y'all watched that video yet? I think I'd like to avoid it, thank you very much. EJ Dionne gets to discuss "good capitalism" VS. "bad capitalism" duty. Newtie & Governor Secession might as well occupy a park! :D Mittens like to brag about creating jobs, but exactly how many jobs did he create against how many he destroyed? The nature of capitalism is now - for now - a subject of debate. Do we want concentrated wealth at the top or not? The GOBP beat Dems to the Bain attack stuff. The response from Mittens & his peeps is "they're putting free enterprise on trial."
"Debunktion Junction" - Did 250,000 people vote in NH last night? Yes! Golly! The GOBP & independents can vote there in a GOBP primary. All 5 of Mittens' sons were with dear 'ol Dad last night. Rachel got the Mittens' son doc wrong. Oh well! ;) John Sununu defended Mittens quite "eloquently" defended Mittens' tax plan last night. ;D His crock of crap comment was a crock of crap!
Lowell, MA made "best new thing in the world today" for the Iraqi restaurant that had been vandalized but then got faboo support from veterans! :D
