I'm Still Here Roxy!

Monday; January 16th, abc canceled One Life To Live!
A show filled with Emmy Award winning actors and actresses, (whom we all have grown to love)! This soap has been on the air, for over forty years.

Please Contact abc, fill out the short form, (Feel free to copy/paste and enclose this following message on the contact form). That'd show them we're organized!

note to abc
Bring Back One Life To Live!
It's the best soap, and show on abc or any other channel!

I've been watching since 1975 and the cast are like friends to me.

It is a big mistake to replace an award winning show like this, with some dorky ain't gonna fly new show!

abc. is making a double mistake by cancelling OLTL, because it's often, somewhat lighter, comedic genre compliments GH's very heavy dramatic one!

OLTL and GH are like bookends; One is somewhat comedic, and the other heavy. Port Charles, NY will be very dark drama, without their neighbors in Llanview, PA airing right before them!

Bringing over a couple of OLTL Actors And Actresses to GH, (as abc is doing) won't do the job. Viewers want all the cast of One Life To Live in context with the current, story line.

What gives abc?
This is a totally botched job, cancelling One Life To LIve! Keep One Life To Live! You're gonna lose a lot of money otherwise!

I just don't understand why abc executives don't get this Roxy!

abc, your new show is gonna flop!

From, A Loyal One Life To Live Fan

♥♥♥

This is what they plan on replacing One Life To Live With. The Revolution,
a daily show about health and lifestyle transformations. With rotating guest contributors who help viewers transform all areas of their lives, from relationships to family, food, style, home design, finance and more. abc's gotta be kidding! Could this be, any more boring?

I wouldn't watch this Revolution. It certainly cannot compete with OLTL!

My advice to abc is Bring Back OLTL. You have all the sets already and soaps are just as cheap to make; (that's why they've been so popular with networks since tv was invented), than it is to pay more just to bring in guest stars for this kind of junk.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Back when women were staying home to take care of the house and the kids, soaps were everywhere -- my mom was a major As The World Turns fan, and I remember her setting up the ironing board so she could work while watching. But when she started working, she gave up her soap -- this was long before VHS recorders and even cable, so there was no way for her to watch and work at the same time.

I had a brief flirtation with General Hospital -- I never really "watched" it, but I listened on a radio that picked up TV audio; pretty much all the girls (and a few of the boys) in the department I worked in did so, while we typed in orders into the computer terminals. Didn't really last too long; come springtime I'd be tuned in to baseball games during the afternoons.

It's really hard to keep up with a 5 day a week program that has a story line, with all the other pressures of life; people are looking more for casual viewing during the day, something they can watch once in a while when they have a chance.

Let the show rest in peace -- it's had a good long run. Everything comes to an end eventually.

Big costs--actors, sets, costumes, but more than anything, writers.

      Talk shows are cheap.

I've been an off-and-on OLTL watcher since I was a kid. Mostly off, because I've mostly not been in the house in the middle of the day. But whenever I was home sick or something, I'd check in on Llanview. It is sad to see it go away, and to think about all the people it'll leave unemployed.

at my leisure! One Life To Live is as good as; imo, actually even a little better than General Hospital.

I watch both. Have for over 30 years. OLTL is different than most of the soaps. I used to tape them. It is the best! And I'll hound abc until they bring it back.

Sorry Can't let this show go. There's practically nothing else worth watching, on tv and movies too.

  •  I've been watching it (5+ / 0-)

longer than you have - 1973.  I hadn't really watched All My Children that much so haven't really missed it but this one I've kept up with pretty much.  Will miss Llanview a whole bunch and wrote all the letters back when the cancellation was announced.

The sad reality is that the networks are going on the cheap and unscripted tv is very, very cheap.

might convince abc what a big mistake they're making. Then when this new show revolution flops and it has to, it makes me nauseous. They can bring OLTL immediately back.

I also watched AMC but only a little. But OLTL has a lot of action and I am totally invested in the characters and the story line.

Hasn't anyone ever told abc, "If It's Not Broke, Don't Fix It"! It's no wonder the network loses money when they make dumb decisions like cancelling a known winner like OLTL, for some dumb never tried reality show!

Great Actress. I bookmarked that link.

Nowadays with the new photography techniques OLTL is still so good.

It's not meant to be taken literally. It's a soap. And I for one am entertained by the people in Llanview PA. I relate to them. I cannot relate to some self help reality show and I'll never watch it!

who really loves it, too. I haven't watched for years, but always figured it would be there if I wanted to. It's a crime that they are getting rid of all scripted shows and going for cheap talk.

We have gotten some great actors out of the soaps, real talent that got a chance to bloom by doing daytime. Judith Light is a great example and I'll always remember Sarah Michelle Gellar as Erica Kane's daughter Kendall. We wouldn't have had Buffy, IMO without the experience that she got doing AMC.
