I understand people's concerns with SOPA/PIPA. However, in my opinion, blacking out your site to protest those proposals makes about as much sense as stabbing yourself in the thigh with a fork. I want to thank kos for not jumping off the cliff like a possessed pig - so to speak.
Here is a list of the sites that decided to jump off the cliff.
Wikipedia
Craigslist
Reddit
Wired
Mozilla
Twitpic
theCHIVE
ICanHazCheezburger
Thousands of others
Here is the question that these website owners should have asked themselves before they took this action. Are there better options to educate people about the issues you have with the proposals... neither of which has even left committee?
In usual anthemic stupidity, the masses of the internet population have been going full bore insane over these proposals from the beginning... If there ever was a shining example of that phrase from Hamlet - "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" - it is this one.
EDIT: Just FYI - If you turn off Javascript or run the noscript firefox addon... wikipedia is working fine... I guess that they wanted to protest... but only for those users who don't know how to shut off javascript.
With very little money, companies like the one that owns Reddit, could very easily draft their own proposals and convince a member of Congress to sponsor it, I am sure. They are a HUGE media conglomerate...

Thank you again, kos, for not joining the chorus of idiots who think that punishing their users is an effective form of protest against this type of legislative action.
