Kudos to NEWSONE.com which ran a story about a neo-confederate speech delivered by Ron Paul:
Ron Paul has made no secret of the fact that he thought that the South was right in the Civil War. Here he is giving a speech in front of a giant Confederate Flag about why he believes the North was wrong in the Civil War and why the South was right.
The video comes from this YouTube and the poster says this speech was given at the 2003 Southern Historical Conference in Schertz, Texas. More of Ron Paul's speech is posted in three other videos.
Those of you who still have positive things to say about Ron Paul ought to take a look at these. Paul basically says the South was right, it was a war of economic aggression by the North against the South, and the Civil War was really not about slavery.
Ironically, in arguing in favor of the right of states to secede in this video segment, Ron Paul says the worst countries are "the countries that don't allow their people to leave" like the former Soviet Union, suggesting that states seceding are like dissidents leaving a tyranny. But in the pre-Civil War South, it was black slaves who could not leave. I guess he doesn't believe they are "people."
