Last week, Melanie In Iowa, posed the question, "What ideas do you have for building our community of quilters?"
A comment by RLMiller sparked an idea.
Last year at NN' 11 when Netroots For The Troops was assembling their care packages volunteers were given t-shirts.
It just so happened that while I was in line to help assemble care packages Lt Dan Choi was there. We had chatted earlier at the Community Quilt Project booth and I quickly whipped out a marker to have him sign my shirt.
At the time I talked to TexDem about using that autographed shirt as a centerpiece for a quilt to raise funds for NFTT.
TexDem was in surgery within the next 48 hours, and I was off to move from California back to the Midwest.
Fast forward these many months later, I saw RLMiller's comment about a round robin and I thought of that shirt.
So my goal here today is to put this idea out here to our quilting community and get feedback and suggestions
How about doing a round robin centered around a block with the t-shirt logo and Lt. Choi's note and autograph?
The finished quilt could be used to raise sorely needed funds for NFTT '12.
I'm not adding much more at this point because I feel input about all aspects of this undertaking should be a team effort here.
Please leave your thoughts and ideas in the comments about design ideas, carrying out the round robin part, the best mechanism to raise funds from the quilt for NFTT, etc.
