Well, I just couldn't help it, really. Have you seen Bernadette Peters singing a very bitter Rose in "Rose's Turn"? If not, you've missed an incredible theatrical moment:
(By the way, yes, I know that the theaters are dark on Monday nights. That's why we have YouTubes: to keep our spirits up during times of no actual theatrical LIVE performances.)
Bernadette, again, gloriously (and hysterically) as the Wicked Witch in Into the Woods:
Patti Lupone in Evita:
(this one's VERY political...enjoy)
I've always regretted missing this particular revival of South Pacific. At least one jaded NYT former theater critic said it brought tears to his eyes. All we have are snippets from YT:
And a personal favorite, Sutton Foster. I saw her in her Broadway debut, reprised here:
Sutton Foster has been described -- by NYT theater critics, no less -- as a triple-threat: not only can she sing beautifully, she is equally talented at acting and dancing. So, as the logical heir to both Bernadette and Patti, she deserves one more:
"Anything Goes" -- and she's not only a singer, dancer and actor in this one, she's an athlete, too:
(unfortunately it's a bit slow to load)
