In a post at BlueMassGroup.com, Congressman Jim McGovern announced a panel discussion on corporate personhood on Monday, 1/30, at 6 PM, Tilton Hall at Clark University in Worcester, MA.
This Monday evening, I’ll be sharing the stage as a guest speaker with an all-star lineup at Clark University to discuss “Corporations Are Not People: People’s Rights, Corporate Money, and What Comes Next.”
Joining me on stage will be State Senator Jamie Eldridge, longtime national voting rights expert and Director of “Free Speech for People” John Bonifaz, and Jeff Clements, also a FSFP co-founder, and author of Corporations Are Not People.
I’m thrilled to be invited to be a part of this incredible group and event, and I hope you’ll join us.

The lineup looks fantastic - I've been lucky enough to spend considerable time with both Congressman McGovern and Senator Eldridge over the years, and they are important voices as the nation debates the way forward in a post-Citizens United world. I'm of the opinion that we can have corporate personhood as long as we have a corporate death penalty!
More seriously, when thinking about complex issues like corporate personhood, I do a mental exercise where I try to flip the concept on its head. A corporation is the property of its shareholders, so the central premise of corporate personhood is that property can be a person. Turning that over, do we allow persons to be property, i.e. slavery? No, we don't - but it sure seems that some corporations would turn us into wage slaves...
I'll be attending this event - I've got room in my car if you're in central MA and you need a ride!
