The Daily Bucket is a place to post your casual observations of the natural world and turn them into a valuable resource. Whether it's the first flowers of spring or that odd bug in your basement, don't be afraid to toss your thoughts into the bucket.
What this means is that we post and exchange our observations about what is happening in the natural world in our neighborhood, as daily as we can, along with location information.
You can act as a witness to the natural phenomena that are happening in your neighborhoods - whether your own back yards or the larger neighborhood that surrounds us. Over time, your notes may provide information that will be a valuable resource, both to your own children and grandchildren and to scientists not yet born.
Castro Valley, CA. On January 29th, 2012 (yesterday) we harvested and made stir fry from a bok choy that we planted no earlier than November, and probably late November at that.
We haven't had a lot of experience or luck with winter gardening here and didn't expecxt much from this plant, but here it is, the first harvest of spring. But wait - is it really spring? The plant definitely thought so, it had grown large and ready to bolt.
So what is happening in your neck of the woods? Post your observations to the bucket, as usual.
