Justice delayed may eventually bring about something other than justice denied if the Special Tribunal in Lebanon proceeds as planned to try the four members of Hezbollah indicted for the assassination of Prime Minister Hariri in February of 2005.
According to the AP months of efforts to locate the indicted members of Hezbollah have proven fruitless in locating the men.
As a result, the Special Tribunal will proceed with the trial of the indicted in absentia.
The four suspects include Mustafa Badreddine, a Hezbollah commander who is also the suspected bomb maker for the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marines barracks in Beirut that killed 241 Americans.
The other suspects are Salim Ayyash, also known as Abu Salim; Assad Sabra and Hassan Oneissi, who changed his name to Hassan Issa.
It is unknown when the trial will begin.
One can only hope it will be sooner rather than later so that the guilt or innocence can be proven and if necessary, punishment meted out for this outrageous murder.
