Oh, goodie. Arizona's former Senate President, Russell Pearce, whose racist ass was overwhelmingly recalled last November in his very conservative Mesa district, has filed paperwork to run for the State Senate in District 25, a new district.

Since voters told the wife-beating, Neo-Nazi-chumming, fear-mongering criminal gasbag to take a hike last year, Pearce has been busy oozing his slimy self back into the Republican Party. It's interesting that voters of all parties kicked his butt to the curb, but the leadership of the state GOP has opened their arms to welcome the author of SB 1070 and nearly every other piece of bigoted filth back into the fold.
First, Pearce landed a paying gig as President of Ban Amnesty Now, a nativist gaggle that's been a loud cheerleader for the former Senator's anti-immigration bullshit. Pearce formerly served as Chair of the group, whose website says they will "unite Americans" around immigration. Yeah, Russ has done a great job of uniting Arizonans.
In his new capacity, the former legislator will become the public face of the organization, leading educational, advocacy and fundraising efforts aimed at fighting government efforts to legalize the residency status of any unauthorized immigrants in this country. Pearce will also host the weekly radio show, "Ban Amnesty Now Radio" on a local talk news station. examiner.com
I can hardly wait to tune in. Then last week Pearce was elected to a prominent position in the Arizona Republican Party:
Over the weekend, Pearce was elected as the first vice chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, becoming the organization's No. 2 official. Pearce was elected to the post with 60 percent of the vote of those at the party meeting, the Arizona Daily Star reported. HuffPo
Got that? Sixty percent of the leaders of the Arizona Republican Party elected this asshat to the Number 2 position. I guess they didn't get the memo from voters. And now this peckerhead is going to run again! Pearce will likely face halfway sane Republican (yes, we have a handful) Rich Crandall in the LD25 race, pitting the incumbent moderate against the hard right tea party wing of the party.
I guess it's true what they say about cockroaches.
