Let's be clear.
Let's be realistic. I know we'd rather wax poetic about how the world should be (it's never been that way), how the President should be (we've never had one that was), how the Democratic Party should be (as we actively work against its unity), but let's return to the real world, where most of us adults have to live, work, and try to change things for the better.
If you don't vote in the 2012 presidential election, or vote for the Republican, or vote for a 3rd-party candidate that has zero chance of winning, you will be directly responsible for the Democratic loss and the Republican taking of the Executive Branch.
Oh, so you're not going to vote? "Oh, but it's just one vote....what's the big deal?" You clearly think it's a big deal, otherwise you (and not just the link, but those with this general attitude) wouldn't have posted publicly about it, and repeatedly reminded us how sad and upset you are that your one or two issues haven't been dealt with adequately. Well, I learned in 3rd grade civics class (and I suspect you did too), that every vote matters. Your vote may not matter, but your vote within a group of 5,000 not-voting-this-timers in one state matters....and a 3rd-grader could tell you this. If you aren't convinced by a 3rd-grader, go ask some folks in Ohio and Florida what they think about relatively small groups of people staying home in important elections.
So yeah, you're responsible. Remember you're a liberal/progressive? It's not all about you. It's about all of us. It's about what's better for the community, not just what's better* for you.
What's better for all of us:
1. SCOTUS judges who aren't right-wing wackos
2. Expanded opportunity for health care and momentum toward universal access
3. End of major Iraq operations
4. Projected end of major Afghanistan operations
5. End of DADT
6. Further unemployment benefits relief
7. Targeted tax cuts for those most needing it, and targeted increases to those hoarding the capital in this country
8. The death of Osama Bin Laden
9. Student Loan relief
10. Underwater/unjustly-termed mortgage relief
So sure, come into this diary and say, or continue repeating throughout this site, how you're not going to vote, how you won't support this president, how all the Dem pols are the same, etc etc etc. We'll take note....and don't expect a friendly reception here or in any other Democratic Party venue filled with real-world folks while we're taking turns watching President Romney being inaugurated and vomiting in the bathroom.
*better assumes that you're important enough to "Obama" that he'll personally setup surveillance of your iPhone 2 and send a drone after you if you smoke weed.
