Oh, Chicago. I've only been there once, and I've never seen the play (or the movie). But I love the Cell Block Tango: here on stage

It seems to me that there isn't a huge difference between the staged and movie versions of this number. The production values (vis a vis YouTube) are better for the movie version, of course. But the number itself isn't much different. In fact, I think I like the "spread eagle" in the stage version above, better than the movie version.
And I particularly like the use of red scarves to indicate guilt: of course, the murderesses themselves admit their guilt. The one who claims to be innocent, the Russian ballerina, is the only one to have a white scarf at the end of her portion of the number. As symbolism, it is really obvious, but it obviously works.
