The House ran through it's usual light (and late) first-day-of-the-week schedule without incident, debating three suspension bills, passing two of them and delaying a vote on the third until today. The House also began consideration of the "Civilian Property Realignment Act," discussed briefly yesterday, taking up four amendments (Denham, Connolly, Jackson-Lee and Carnahan), passing three by voice vote, and postponing the vote on the 4th (Connolly) until today.
The big item on the Senate agenda yesterday, aside from the routine unanimous consent bills, was the approval of the FAA conference report (complete with objectionable anti-union provisions), by a vote of 75-20.
Looking ahead to today:
Another light-ish day in the House, as Members wrap up consideration of the surplus property bill, and take care of yesterday's postponed suspension bill. Whew! Twelve to five! What a way to make a livin'!
The Senate? Well, I'll just bring up a quote from the Senate schedule and let that be the end of it:
We hope to begin consideration of the surface transportation bill during Tuesday’s session of the Senate. We hope. Yeah, that's it.
What can I tell you? Everyone's just waiting around for the President to send over his budget, so they can declare it "dead on arrival," and then not pass one of their own.
Today's floor and committee schedules appear below the fold.
