This is an amazing speech:
The VP is addressing the 2012 Communications Workers of America's Legislative-Political Conference.
His speech should remind everybody here of why we're here.
He's blunt. He names names. He very specifically explains why unions and Democrats differ from "those other guys".
Basically, the country's bargain with "America's Middle Class" has been broken and according to the VP, "those other guys" don't care. And when it's broken "it undermines everything this country stands for."
"It's about community"
"The Walkers and the Kasichs go out there and look for a scapegoat and they blame you guys [unions]."
"It's as if the Communications Workers are the reason Republicans will no longer talk to us."
And he calls Right To Work "Right To Work For Less".
Look for his quote of Abraham Lincoln around the 14 minute mark.
And quoting a former mayor of Boston "Don't compare me to the Almighty, compare me to the alternative." If that doesn't inform how many people who profess to be progressives vote in November, then perhaps you should reexamine your real motives in how you vote.
This speech is why we're Democrats. This speech is speaks to how I'll vote this fall and how I've voted since 1980.
Take 50 minutes of your time and watch VP Biden burn the house down with his sincere outline of why we're Democrats.
Oh, and the sound bite from all of this:
"Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive."
Bush could never get bin Laden and Romney would have allowed GM and a huge chunk of America's national security, ie., a huge chunk of it's manufacturing base, to go under. There's a contrast for ya.
