I am so sick of non-stop blogging, broadcasting and bloviating about republican candidates, policy and pontificating. This here blog is sometimes a case in point.
Riddle me this - why isn't the DNC running a couple candidates in every state as a Democratic Primary where they debate how great Obama policies have been so far and how if they win, they wouldn't do a thing differently.
Then hold the convention and have every primary candidate pledge his delegates to Obama.
At least then we could be writing about, talking about and thinking about Democrat policty and initiatives - pros and cons. It would even be valuable to Obama and the DNC - IF they really want to be representative.
Debate is heathly for important issues. Having a primary would be an excellent forum both for the party, the citizens and the Press (bloggers included). EVEN if it was/is a faite d'accompli who the candidate will be, it would be a way to expand the voice of the Deomcratic party platform in the daily news cycle.
I, for one, would be much happier and motiviated voter to be participating in more discussion and blogging about comparing and contrasting the positive aspects of Howard Dean perspective on health care to Obama rather than complaining about which republoration disaster would be worse. Or giving my opinion of Russ Feingold proposal on Citizens United relative to Obama's - as opposed to comparing charts of GPS Crossroads versus Restore Our Future spending.
We are seeing WAY TOO MUCH of what the right wing wants to talk about. Having a presence in primaries and state caucuses would get more people engaged with the Democrtic policy and party. For believers, it would build enthusiasm and enthusiasm builds turnout and turnout ensures Democratic elections.
At the very least it would take some space - air space, blog space, mind space - from the ceaseless, breathless coverage of every repbuloration gas pass that the right wing trumpets as Stop the Presses and left wing blasts as To the Ramparts!
