Have you all be reading your polls? It doesn't sound like it by the avalanche of pearl clutching and couch fainting we are seeing over
Operation Hilarity.
Let me point to Tom Jensen in the latest PPP poll of Michigan:
Santorum's benefiting from the open nature of Michigan's primary as well. He's only up by 12 points with actual Republican voters, but he has a 40-21 advantage with the Democrats and independents planning to vote that pushes his overall lead up to 15 points.
You got that? Democrats are going to vote in the open primary in Michigan and they prefer Santorum by a huge margin. You think that's frothy love, or is that a desire to poke Mitt Romney in the eye?
Fast forward to post primary. Imagine Santorum wins. Imagine if its so close, that the margin of victory is Democratic votes. Imagine nobody ever did anything like Operation Hilarity. Who is going to define why all those Democrats voted for Santorum? US or Santorum?
Because you can bet your bottom dollar that Santorum is going to say "I pulled all those Reagan Democrats with my message! That's why I won!"
And then, like usual, Democrats will be running behind after-the-fact saying no, no, no...that's not it! But it will be too fucking late.
Look folks: Dems are voting in the GOP open primary. That train has left the station. The question is, are we going to define the reason why, or is Rick Santourm?
That's your choice here. I choose to support Operation Hilarity.
