I've never done a diary until now. I've not seen anyone post about this - least I don't think so - and I thought this was important for people to be aware.
Please follow me down below.
I ran across this blurb in Truth About Pet Foods Newsletter that I subscribe to and thought it was worth mentioning to all you pet lovers out there:
Too Many Dogs Dying Lately
The frustrating thing about this article will be that no brand names get mentioned. That is because Susan Thixton, author and "owner" of this blog, is under threat of lawsuit by a major corporation since she began her advocacy for safer pet foods several years ago. She herself lost her beloved doggie to what she is certain was toxic dog food and has been on this quest on behalf of pets and their owners ever since. That being said by way of intro is to let you know that I don't think she is some fly by night quack or crackpot. She seems in earnest.
To find possible problems with the pet treats or foods you feed your dog or cat, please try to do the following via this link:
Consumer Affairs Information
Click on "Recalls" tab to see if you can info on your brand/type of treat or food; most likely you won't find much info
You can also do a search once you reach the Recalls page. I was absolutely stunned when I looked up the treat brand name (a fairly major one by a mammoth manufacturer) and the canned cat food brand name. Honestly I got sick and scared at the same time because lots of these entries/complaints are very recent.
I'm not anti- any specific corporation, and I'm not pro-this particular newsletter. I'm not plugging it, or hawking it or suggesting anyone sign up for it. I simply offer this as an FYI. Debunk it, riducule me for diary-ing this, call me a crackpot but please - at least give a looksee and draw your own conclusions.
Sorry if my first attempt at posting a diary is clumsy and poorly written.
Thanks.
Be well,
DES
