Good Morning MOTleyville
We're known as the MOTley Crew and you can find us here every morning at 6:30 Eastern. Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanently or just once in awhile. With the auto-publish feature you can set it and forget it. Sometimes the diarist du jour shows up much later, that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! Just let us know in the comments. You can click on the Morning Open Thread "heart" if you'd like us to show up in your stream every day.
Doing one of these diaries is a good way to get your feet wet if you have been hesitant about writing a diary. You can write as much or as little as you want. The audience here is always supportive.
The American space program will be having a big day in history Febuary 20th 2012.
In 1962 on that Day John Glenn blasted of from Cape Canaveral.

The back-to-back launches 50 years ago of legendary Mercury astronauts John Glenn and Scott Carpenter marked a turning point in a Cold War battle with the Soviet Union, galvanizing Americans in a victorious race to the moon.
“Everyone was behind us. The whole nation was behind us. It gave us a lot of confidence to have all that support from across the nation, and particularly from the folks here in Cocoa Beach,” Carpenter said Friday in a news conference with Glenn at Kennedy Space Center.
“It is a special pleasure, for both of us — I’m sure John will agree with me on this — to be back where the times were so magic in the early ’60s. Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral — at that time, Cape Kennedy — were magic places filled with dedicated devotees of spaceflight.”
I would have been about 7 years old then & don't remember that flight.
I do remember watching for the satellites back in the early 60's though.
they are saying it will be 36° when this publishes.
later in the day it will be a sunny 63° :)
Hope your Saturday goes well.
