How low will Rick go to win the Tea Party vote along with the evangelical Christians? Pretty low, evidently. Today, he went after President Obama's faith:
Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator known for his social conservative policies, said that Obama's agenda is "not about you. It's not about your quality of life. It's not about your jobs. It's about some phony ideal. Some phony theology. Not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology."
Of course, this wasn't the first time Rick has attacked President Obama for his faith. When asked recently to assess Barack Obama's faith, Santorum claimed it was nothing more than an avenue to achieve power:
He joined the most popular church in an area of the city where he was going to make his political stand. It had the most reach. It had the most juice. It gave him a platform to be able to go out and use their reach, their power, to help build a base of support for him in that community so he could go and run for office. He didn’t really much care, in my opinion, what the belief structure was. It was a vehicle. Now, am I saying that he believes everything that Rev. Wright believes? No. But he was willing to tolerate those beliefs for 20 years to achieve a political objective, which was to get him elected.
Of course, we've known for some time what a classy guy Rick Santorum is. When campaigning in Florida Santorum
chose not to correct a woman who asked him about Barack Obama's "avowed" belief in Islam.
