Capping off a remarkable comeback in recent months, Barack Obama's job approval score is now in positive territory in the Daily Kos/SEIU State of the Nation Poll for the first time since
May 19, 2011. Back then, you'll recall, Osama bin Laden had just been brought to justice, a very real accomplishment which nevertheless only yielded a temporary bounce in the polls for the president. Prior to that episode, Obama's approval hadn't been above water since April 7. To illustrate, here's a snapshot of our trendlines from the first half of last year:
The dark line represents approval, the lighter line disapproval. You can see the bid Laden effect quite clearly, and before that, you can spot the one early April poll where Obama was in positive turf. So yeah, it's been a very long time. But with any luck, this trend will continue.
