I wanted to share this with you all. My lecture is today!
In Honor of Black History Month, join us at Empire State College-Old Westbury, Tuesday, February 21st, for this FREE lecture on:
Obama’s America: Barack Obama’s Narrative of African-American and American History
The evening will begin with a reception from 6 PM followed by the lecture at 6:30 PM.
The lecture will be presented by Professor Ian Reifowitz. Professor Reifowitz has taught Historical Studies at SUNY Empire State College since 2002. He is the author of OBAMA’S AMERICA: A TRANSFORMATIVE VISION OF OUR NATIONAL IDENTITY, which will be published this July by Potomac Books.
Reifowitz will discuss Barack Obama’s narrative of American history, one that integrates the history of black Americans as a central, core element within our common story. By giving place to those who have too often been invisible in the standard, traditional narrative of American History, Obama encourages Americans of all backgrounds to reclassify as a central element of our national saga something that they might have associated only with a particular ethnic group.
This is a FREE event and all guests are welcome.
