Breaking news: Idaho State Senator John McGee has resigned from the Idaho State Legislature over allegations of sexual misconduct with a female congressional liaison.

Idaho Senator John McGee peed in his own Cheerios starting last year on Father's Day when he was pulled over for drunk driving. He had broken into a SUV with a boat trailer and tried to drive it away. He was so inebriated he jackknifed the vehicle trying to back it out. He left a party staggering drunk and apparently wandered for 3 unaccountable hours before trying to steal the truck.

The female staffer was not a minor, but the allegations seem pretty serious-- he had what was apparently an intense closed-door meeting with the state GOP talking heads and when it was over, he decided to resign on his own (they say).

He has a wife and two kids, at least for now. He was the chairman of one of our county GOP parties, and used to be the president of the board of trustees for College of Idaho. He was canned from that position by the College president after the DUIs, to some protest from other trustees and alums, but I bet they're all breathing a sigh of relief now after dodging today's bullet, Neo-in-the-Matrix style.

Ahhh, family values.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
