Sorry for the graphic head line. But it is how I felt watching Mathews tonight, who concluded his program with the ultimato concern troll essay. I watched it jaw agape, as today's polls have never looked better for Obama, and all Mathews could site was that the president was only at 50% approval.
Really? Does he not have access to recent polls? Does his staff not keep him caught up? Or am I simply to believe that he's one more media monster who wants a horse race at each and every moment more than they want facts.
Look, It's a long way to November. I AM NOT complacent. I AM NOT smug. I DO NOT think it's going to be easy, and every other oath I can swear here, short of slicing my finger and spilling my blood on the internet, which as far as I know, no one has yet figured out how to do.
Why did this freaking piss me off enough to write, for me, a rare diary about it? Because, Jesus Christ on the dashboard with Las Vegas stuffed dice waving above, WHY CAN'T THE MEDIA REPORT WHAT IS TODAY?!?!?!?!?!?!
Ahem. Calmed down from capitals. She says quietly, why did Chris Mathews not know this:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...?
But it just seemed his embrace of Obama's 50% approval rating as a very bad thing, along with his asking with indignity if an 8.5% unemployment record was something to be proud of, after "all these years trying to recover from the recession," was just so irresponsible and untruthful.
Don't get me wrong. My life does not depend on Mathews, and this isn't the first time he's pissed me off. But I do know that many moderate republicans watch his show, and even my fox watchin' republican mama watches his show.
All I'm sayin' for tonight, and thank y'all very much for allowing me my rant, is that Mathews is a freaking loose cannon, who never knows where the tingle up his leg will lead him. No news to anyone here, but my point is, where does he get off ending his show tonight with an essay that makes it sound like Obama's all but roasted, when 90% of all polls known to man say different?
I don't know, maybe Chris suffers from attention deficit disorder. This would certainly explain his constant interruptions of his guests. And hey, I don't hate Chris---hell, sometimes I want to pat the downy feathers on his Tweety bird head.
SIGH. Maybe it was a bad day for me. I usually do better with Tweety. And yet, I guess I'm just going to go ahead and want to vomit at Tweety's inability to keep his finger on the pulse.
If Obama is lagging and doing poorly, I don't expect anyone to sugar coat it. But when the GOP is dancing a dead man's jig, and Obama's singin' with BB King, I just don't understand why Chris Mathews thinks THIS IS THE TIME to be the ultimate concern troll.
Again, thanks y'all, to anyone who graced this rant with a read. I'll be over it by the time the rooster crows tomorrow.
