When the bombs begin to rain on Iran many of us may cheer. However, our cheers will be dampened at our next stop for gas when the price will be $8.00 or more per gallon -- or at our next heating oil fill up that will be similarly price.
The same crowd who gave us the tragic war against the people of Iraq are now promoting war on the people of Iran. As a combat veteran who has seen the devastation of war on the people of Korea, It is clear to me that wars are the worst of all terrorism. The very scale and destructive power of modern weapons makes all other form of terrorism pale.
To promote yet another war that the corporate media and its political allies in Washington can profit from, the American public is being saturated with fear mongering and a never ending barrage of lies about the people of Iran, that could easily lead to the killings of millions, and to the moral and financial bankruptcy of America.
Perhaps the most damning lie and propaganda that has been repeated hundreds of times in our media -- that President Ahmadinejad of Iran had threatened to wipe Israel off the map, appeared again in comments made in the Republican debate last night (2/22/12) Four years ago, then presidential candidate John MeCain made a similar lie in NH. He even said that Ahmadinejad had made these lunatic threats at the UN in NY.
Fortunately there is an easy way to find the truth. The UN Web site has the complete text of the 2007 and 2011 speeches by Ahmadinejad on their Web site. Yet, our shameless media refuses to do this simple search in order to inform their viewers and readers about the truth. I have pointed this out with letters to the major newspapers in both Connecticut and in New Hampshire. Yet, because the truth would cut down their profits and credibility they refused to do that simple check.
So, again we are being fooled into a racist-religious war that will kill thousands of young Americans and likely millions of Muslims for the sole benefit of war profiteers. There is no end to their greed and inhumanity of these bastards.
Just this past Sunday, General Martin Dempsey, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff being interviewed by Fareed Zakaria said that the US should not "rush to war" and that the Iranian regime were "rational actors."
On the other hand, Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu who wants war, outrage by these comments, suggested that Dempsey "was serving Iran's interest." And disgustingly, Senators McCain and Graham who were in Israel apparently sided with Netanyahu according to a Jurasalem Post story.
Apparently Republican politicians now think that being critical of our military and presidential leadership when they are in a foreign country is OK. This notable lack of honor and diplomacy shames all Americans.
