Whosigned.org now has a searchable database on their website that holds every signature from 2009's infamous Referendum 71 in WA state. Kudos to you, whosigned.org!
For all of the associated court filings, depositions, decisions, etc. take a look at this page on the Secretary of State's website.
Adam B has kindly added a quick link to the R-71 diaries he's written. Thank you Adam B!
The decision to make the signatures public came last November, although more than 30 DVDs with the info had been released a month earlier.
Each signed page of each petition was captured as a tiff file and added to the DVD, and looked like this. If you can't see that link, try this one.
Since October, whosigned.org has been entering all those 7,000+ pages of information into a database, to make the info searchable on a number of different filters. Now that db is live online, just as we get ready for our next battle: R-74, which will attempt to repeal WA state's equal marriage rights act just signed into law by Gov. Gregoire.
The database is so slick compared to those tiff file monstrosities! The first name I checked for was my own, to make sure I wasn't the victim of voter-fraud/bigot-puppet speech. Now I'm just poking around. (One downside-- no images of actual signatures made it into this database. In a way, that's okay. My eyes were bleeding after ten hours of reading sigs on HaxoAngelmark's uploads.)
Anyway, if you've been wondering who those 122,007 people were who put R-71 on the ballot in an effort to scuttle WA's Everything But Marriage Act, here they are.
