This diary & the Countdown diary are taking a long weekend so my dearly beloved & I can have our belated Valentine's Day date. :)
It's time for SPARK! :D Now, this is one COOL Mom. Here's your chance for an unsinkable lunch! Can y'all just imagine the DNA on these mothers? Finally, it's not just Jesus that appears in food these days! :D
On with The Rachel Maddow Show...
"Dude Awakening" - OK, I was wondering where Rachel was going with this whole "show cancellation" memo at the beginning of the show; she's talking about the lovely compassionate kind - hearted audiences at these MENSA meetings. No, I didn't listen to that hateful ilk again. Last night, they booed birth control. However, the "gentlemen" on stage had A LOT to say about it. In the 89 - minute debate, they devoted 13 minutes to contraception & its evils. Man on Dog talked about the record numbers of out - of - wedlock babies in connection with the evils of contraception. Wow. OK, he was full of froth last night! ;D MENSA members & Boss Limbaugh claim the Dems brought up the whole birth control issue to distract the GOBP & make them look bad. BRILLIANT! Well, Newtie was the one who brought it up. Women's reproductive health issues & denial thereof have been THE hot issues in state legislatures in the past couple of years. In Virginia, they overreached BIG TIME with the whole vaginal ultrasound thing; there were protests in the state capitol again today. The Virginia Senate decided to scuttle that horrid bill! :) The revised bill was going to make doctors offer the ultrasound even if they didn't want to, and the patient would get to pay for the privilege. GA State Rep. Yasmin Neal has proposed legislation banning vasectomies unless the procedure will prevent a death or bodily injury. ;D Yep, it takes an egg AND a sperm to make a zygote! The contraception issue is a priority now because the GOBP feel like they can be honest now in their desire to bully women who want to make their own choices about their own bodies because of their wins in 2010.
"Veep Impact" - Last night's MENSA meeting might be the last in the nominating process?! Yea! I missed them all!! :D Mittens last night said "papers please" should be the law of the land. If he's shown the way back to private life, he may find people to work on his properties difficult to come by! Mittens is beginning to gain a bit in MI. Rachel thinks Governor McDonnell's out of the running now after the cluster spark in VA. Mittens was for the DREAM Act before he was against it; well, he's like that on A LOT of issues. Rachel said it will be impossible to win elections by dissing Latinos - like Mittens has. Enter Senator Marco Rubio - a nice looking guy until he opens his mouth. His fiscally conservative budget plan would add trillions to the deficit. However, his life story is very attractive to some folk. Senator Rubio has some Mormon roots, too. Then, there's that "editing" of his family history. Manuel Roig - Franzia's written a book about Senator Rubio. There are still some questions about being a Mormon in this country, but Senator Rubio's Catholic now & has even attended services in a pretty evangelical church. So, he's quite the mixed bag of faith. He also likes to talk up God - A LOT. Senator Rubio may or may not boost Latino support for the GOBP. Cuban Americans represent a small percentage of the Latino community.
Syria's in some deep $hit, and I don't think Assad will stop until everyone's dead. If there was oil in Syria, a whole lot of places would've intervened a LONG time ago. A Syrian journalist who was recently killed was also honored yesterday. A French journalist is badly injured & is desperate to get out.
"Stop Helping" - With the friends Mittens has these days... ;D 3 people have given $500K to his SuperPAC, and he does have some high - level endorsements. However, 1 endorser has some fund raising issues, a gay "Show Me Your Papers" state Sheriff, and other endorsers who disagree with his positions make for interesting "dinner conversation."
