I don't get thousands in payoffs from industry think-tanks. But this week an artist friend built me this beautiful Kos-orange coffee table with a cool signature underneath!
Remember a few years ago when conservatives were giddy over stolen documents posted in snippets to falsely portray an international conspiracy among climate scientists? Suddenly they're furious about leaked documents, but only because said docs detail the revolting tactics of one anti-science think-tank. From the Wiki:
The documents showed that the institute planned to provide climate skeptical materials to teachers in the USA to promote criticism of climate change theories in schools. Some of the documents contain details of payments to climate skeptics and financial support to skeptics' research programs, namely ... Craig Idso ($11,600/month), physicist Fred Singer ($5,000 plus expenses/month), geologist Robert M. Carter ($1,667/month) and a single pledge of $90,000 to meteorologist Anthony Watts.
You want to help push back on the zombie lies and learn some fascinating science in the bargain, right now, this very morning? Consider
buying a copy of Michael Mann's new book,
The Hockey Stick, and/or adding a reality-based review.
- Speaking of the enemy, five climatologists—who who inexplicably still lean Republican—report they have tried unsuccessfully, again and again, to get through to their party. So far no luck, and it seems to be getting worse, not better.
- Mike the Mad Biologist catches this nasty little austerity measure by Republicans which could literally inflict mental retardation on thousands of what would have been healthy children, or maybe just poison them for life.
