Dear Democratic Party,
Back in 2006, then Congressman Obama had appeared on the Charlie Rose show. In that interview, Congressman Obama expressed that he wasn't committed to pursuing a presidential candidacy, at that time, but that he was open to the matter. Whether it was just a matter of pragmatic necessity that then Congressman Obama became Candidate Obama, for the 2008 election, or whether it was "just" anything else, Candidate Obama was elected to the presidency in 2008, as y'all would be well aware, right?
I would ask you, then, dear Democratic party: When did you stop supporting the president? Was it after the president was elected? "The battle won?" Was it after the "CHANGE" posters started to fade and bleach in the sun? After what arguments? After what dissembling? When was it, and why?
What is the Democratic party identity, today, then? And wherein does it not include a support for the President?
Far be it from me to suggest that any party might be experiencing a sort of existential dilemma, with regards to its own party identity. I simply expect that the Blue State Thread, under the candidacy of President Obama, is the thread for me to support - in considering what I hold dear. I begin to wonder, though, how much is the party supporting the President as Candidate? We're open to assume how much, in this electoral cycle?
Signed, yours truly,
- DaDA Bum.
