Apparently Rick Santorum has a problem with the President's image. I know that the playbook calls for demonizing Obama at every turn, but DAMN! This got me to thinking two things:
Why the problem with college education?
Why that particular, peculiar phrase?
The answer to both questions, I think, lies in Santorum's particular version of religious zeal.
Listen beyond the bit about Obama being a snob, the bit about hard-working men and women, and the bit about "liberal" professors indoctrinating. (at the 0:47 mark)
"Oh I understand why he wants you to go to college. He wants to remake you in his image."
Of course, Santorum is just talking out of his ass again, but this latest bit of rant struck a particular chord and I guarantee you it was a dog whistle. The former senator is doing everything that he can to appeal to the evangelical Christian vote. As I see it, this is the section of the electorate that believes in his
Dominionist theology and, also, in homeschooling.
Am I the only one that noticed the Old Testament reference? Remember that these were most likely prepared remarks. This is his stump speech (insert joke here)
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
- King James version
Add this to Santorum's remarks about believing in Satan and its not hard to connect the dots to who he thinks represents the Dark One here in America. I know that I have heard Obama being referred to as the Anti-Christ before. Have you?
Senator Santorum, to which of these images do you object?
Commander-in-Chief who cares?
Respected international presence?
Guy you wanna share a burrito with?
Right, it's this one. President-elect
Hey Rick, up yours!!!!!
