Where are the people who stand for children? We have a daily assault on public schools, health programs, children of immigrants, food assistance, the middle class and the poor, the homeless and those who have lost hope - we can blame and blame and blame........but where are the people who are willing to stand? The children can't speak for themselves and their parents are too tired from working long days for sometimes merciless bosses. There's nothing that keeps me up at night more than the thoughts of children being abused and neglected by those who are supposed to protect them.

I realize a lot of the people who stand for children are in the DKos community and really that's why I'm writing this - maybe someone will tell me something I don't know or we can talk about it - or anything.

This is America! That used to mean something. We are supposed to help those who are defenseless. All the things they used to rely on are being taken away. How can we stand by and let it happen? They are there and their little faces are hidden behind big men who fight with each other about how to keep all the money to themselves. When the children get older, they'll be sent to fight wars for the men and no one will care except their poor mothers and fathers who are too tired to fight for them.

There are no answers in this diary. There are no quotes or statistics. I'm just angry and sad. I don't know what has happened to us.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
