Bella Eiko, an African-American livestreamer from Oakland, arrived in Sacramento to document the thirty-person Nazi rally on the steps of the Capitol and the counterprotest by two-hundred Occupy Oaklanders and many others.
She was turned away from the Capitol grounds.
At the time, at least two White livestreamers, including Sacmedia, were livestreaming with the same press badges (or lack of press badges) as Bella.
Shots by Bella show white people on the Capitol grounds taking pictures, after she had been forced back to the street sidewalk fifty yards or so away from the Capitol steps. Sacmedia confirms that she and other white people do not have press passes but are allowed near the Nazi protesters.
As Bella recently noted:
"I'm so mad I'm fucking shaking."
"I can't do this because of the color of my skin!"
This is a true disgrace. On the grounds of the State Capitol, blatant discrimination prohibited by both the California Constitution and the United States Constitution.
As for the protest and counterprotest itself, the counterprotesters effectively "shut down" the Nazis with massive chants like
Hey Hey, Ho, Ho, These Nazi Scum Have Got To Go!
The iconic red "OCCUPY! OAKLAND" sign could not be missed.
12:58 PM PT: Captain America is with the counter-protesters. He showed up Saturday night in Oakland at the FTP march as well.
